Colorado Fall Wedding in Eagle with Lauren and Drew

A dreamy Colorado fall wedding during peak aspen change at Old Fulford Campground and Yeoman Park in Eagle, Colorado.

This Colorado fall wedding in Eagle, Colorado is the perfect example of how beautiful elopements can be in the fall! While it takes a lot of planning to find the perfect aspen grove, during the precise time of year, planning a wedding during peak aspen change time truly helps capture Colorado in its essence.

For Lauren and Drew, this location was the perfect way to honor Laurens father who had visited this spot and shared it with Lauren. While peak aspen change occurred a little earlier than planned because of the drought, there were still plenty of aspens that were still changing on their October 3rd wedding. Congratulations again Lauren and Drew!

Boulder Colorado Portrait Session at South Mesa with Erika

Exploring South Mesa Trailhead in Boulder, Colorado with model Erika Klein

Last month Erika and I got a chance to meet up in Boulder, Colorado to shoot some dreamy portraits at South Mesa Trailhead. South Mesa Trailhead is a gorgeous trail that wraps and weaves its way between Chautauqua Park and El Dorado Canyon near Boulder. There are dreamy stone houses, shrub lined trails, and a gorgeous view from the south of the flatirons.

Erika and I shot a session almost exactly like this last fall before I moved out to Grand Junction. It involved a long white dress whereas this one involved a short one, as well as the roaming hills of the front range. There is a creativity that comes to fruition when I can slow down and think through the process of what I want an image to feel like, and I’m so thankful for creative sessions like this that allow me to work through that.

I would love to do more sessions like this that just feel so magical and soft. If you’re interested, please reach out to me to plan your session!

Skateboarding Guanella Pass with Memory

Skateboarding portrait session up on Guanella Pass with Memory!

Skateboarding Guanella Pass

A little over a year ago, Memory and I found ourselves driving out to Guanella Pass in the middle of Janaury to get her some skateboarding shots! While the north entrance into Guanella Pass from Georgetown is usaully closed that late into winter, the south entrance up Guanella through Grant is typically open a little further (depending on the snowpack)!

The beginning of Guanella pass from the south is a lush wooded forest area where the road runs right next to the creek. Eventually you stop passing houses and trailheads and you start switchbacking up the national forest road into this huge mountain valley. It was the perfect spot for us to pull over and start shooting!

Guanella pass is usually incredibly busy in the summer. There are National Forest roads that seemingly jut off in every direction, the campsites overrun with trailers and RV’s. But in the dead of winter with strong winds and temperatures in the 30’s (don’t let Memorys’ shorts deceive you! It was F R E E Z I N G) we had the whole road all to ourselves. We just pulled over on the side of the road and, thankful for the strong sun at 8,000 feet, shot to our hearts content as Memory skateboarded around!

This board is no longer in production but you can purchase a similar one here from the same brand here! You can pick up a similar jacket here.

Monochromatic Photoshoot with Katha and Velvet Wolf Boutique

Exploring some big colorful walls in Denver for fashion portraits with Katha and Denvers’ own Velvet Wolf Boutique!

A few weeks ago I was in Denver and got the opportunity to shoot with Katha for Velvet Wolf Boutique! I’ve worked with Velvet Wolf a few times before and I always love the selection of fun clothing they have!

Katha and I had met once before (actually at Velvet Wolfs’ 2 year anniversary!) so we met up on location, at these big colorful walls outside of Denver. I’ve been wanting to do a monochromatic fashion shoot and this spot was the perfect place to do it! Katha is a really well established Denver model and I was stoked to finally be able to shoot with her! We also stumbled on these balloons that someone had left so we had a lot of fun playing around with those too.

Denvers' Bad Bettie Project Sunflower Portrait Shoot

Photoshoot at a Sunflower Farm in Longmont, Colorado with Denvers very own metro-based non profit benefiting young women!

Bad Bettie Project is a non-profit that benefits young women based out of the Denver Metro area! If you haven’t heard me talk about Bad Bettie Project, you probably aren’t following me on instagram, because I talk about it All 👏 The 👏 Time👏.

My favorite thing about Bad Bettie Project is how it redefines friendship among women. I don’t know if its just because my childhood occurred in a different age but I had never been exposed to this world where women weren’t constantly competetive with each other, but Bad Bettie Project is this amazing space for women to come together and change the narrative that sooo many of us are taught as young women! I’ve truly never been more grateful for the impact a group could have, not only on my life, but in the lives of its members as well!

So Bad Bettie Project throws a lot of different events, right now they have a reoccurring BBP Fitness event where you can go to different workout classes with other members! Last fall they had a little ‘shoot out’ at a Sunflower field up in Longmont, Colorado. This farm has E V E R Y T H I N G you could ever want in a photoshoot! Besides having amazing sunflowers to walk amongst, they have all of these to die for props around the field, including the cutest like VW bus! On top of that, they let you pick sunflowers to take home with you, and they take donations for local organizations.

I had such a fun time wandering around this field, connecting with women I had never met before, all of us just there empowering each other and having a fun time! If you’re new to the Denver area, or if your’e just looking to make some more connections with womxn in the area, Bad Bettie Project is a great place to find those connections!

If you’re interested in becoming a member of the growing non-profit Bad Bettie Project, you can check them out here!
