9 Boutique Hotels for Your Elopement Venue

  1. Gateway Canyons Resort in Gateway Colorado

Nestled among the Red Rock in Western Colorado is Gateway Canyons Resort. This resort is an amazing spot as a backdrop for your elopement, or as your home away from home as you explore the endless canyons and mesa’s that surround Gateway.

“Create your perfect weekend: scale the peaks, go horseback riding, unearth dinosaur bones, pamper yourself in the spa, dine under a chandelier of brilliant stars. An endless amount of outdoor adventures awaits.”

Nearest airport: Grand Junction (GJT), Montrose (MTJ).

2. Dunton Hot Springs in Dunton, Colorado

If hot springs is more your jam, it doesn’t get anymore remote and private than Dunton Hot Springs resort in Dunton, Colorado.

“Just across the mountain from Telluride, Dunton Hot Springs is a romantic 1800’s ghost town set in an extraordinary alpine valley. Our resort offers a variety of day and overnight packages, and the entire town can be rented exclusively for corporate retreats, family reunions and weddings.”

Closest airport: Durango (DRO).

3. The Little Nell in Aspen, Colorado

Located within walking distance of Aspens winter slopes and downtown Aspen, The Little Nell is one of the few 5 star and 5 diamond ski in / ski out hotels in Colorado.

“Hospitality is our passion. From our kitchens to our cellars, with their 20,000 bottles of wine, from the Concierges in our lobby to the Concierges on our mountains, and from family adventure to après ski, this hotel is, guests have said, "the Aspen of Aspen."

Closest airport: Aspen (ASE).

4. The Wyman Hotel in Silverton, Colorado

This boutique hotel sits in Silverton, Colorado, one of the best (IMO) mountain towns in Colorado. While most tourists fly into Denver and the front range, few make the 7 hour trek over to Silverton. Just note that this hotel does not have an elevator and you must request a first floor room if needed!

“Here in Silverton, we’re lucky enough to enjoy nighttime temperatures in the 40s-50s all summer long. That said, we do not have air conditioning in our rooms, but do have large and operable windows and in-room fans. We have intentionally left televisions out of our room design. We hope you take time in Silverton to step away from the world and enjoy the physical and mental remoteness of our mountain town.”

Closest airport: Durango (DRO), Montrose (MTJ).

5. Surf Hotel in Buena Vista, Colorado

Surf Hotel is located in another of my favorite mountain towns, Buena Vista. Located about 2 1/2 hours from Denver, Buena Vista and the Surf Hotel are within close proximity to mountain passes and would make an excellent backdrop to your Colorado elopement. Whether looking for a hotel room or your own private chateau, Surf Hotel & Chateau has it all.

“Overlooking the rapids of the Buena Vista Whitewater Park, the Surf Hotel offers a boutique travel experience where details are carefully crafted and spaces tell a timeless story. Guests enjoy a sense of luxury without pretension, inspired by both the understated elegance of European hotels and the spectacular natural beauty of our home in the Rocky Mountains. Whether for solo travelers, families, corporate groups or wedding parties, our contemporary approach to hospitality adapts to suit your style of leisure.”

Closest airport: Denver (DIA).

6. Sopris House in Crested Butte, Colorado

Ahh okay just another one of my favorite Colorado mountain towns (ha!). Crested Butte is such an amazing outdoor experience and there is so much to do, it makes the perfect backdrop to your Colorado elopement.

”The intimate, four-bedroom home still has its original tin ceiling and mountain town touches like a massive buffalo head in the dining room and a private saloon. If you need an outdoor fix, Crested Butte is the place to get it. Considered a mountain biking mecca, the area boasts the largest single track system in the U.S. Hike or bike through alpine meadows carpeted in technicolor blooms or forested trails canopied in autumnal gold.”

Closest airport: Gunnison (GUC).

7. Amigo Motor Lodge in Salida, Colorado

This cute 60 year old renovated lodge in Salida, Colorado makes an incredible back drop for getting ready photos or your elopement. With an option to buyout the entire hotel, guests can stay directly on site. Whether in one of their renovated Airstreams, or in the southwest inspired lobby, this boutique hotel is a one stop shop for your Colorado elopement.

“At the Amigo, we want to be a place to rest your hat after a long day of adventure in the mountains, on the river or just soaking in the hot springs. We created our motel to be a place you actually want to spend time during your travels to connect with friends, loved ones or just your own thoughts. From the uniquely decorated rooms to the common spaces, no stone has been left unturned on our ongoing, now year-long renovation of the property. We still have lots of work to do, but it's been a fun process turning our concept into reality. We look forward to hosting you at the Amigo!”

Closest airport: Denver (DIA).

8. The Ramble Hotel in Denver, Colorado

This boutique hotel in downtown Denver, Colorado boasts the only outside of NY location of the famed Death & Co bar. On top of their picturesque interior design, they also have a rooftop patio with neon signs.

“Our 50 room hotel is located in Denver’s River North Art District and features Death & Co, the first location outside of its New York institution, an intimate theater and event bar, and a new restaurant from Denver’s acclaimed Work & Class. We hold a great reverence for the magic and escapism a hotel can provide, and hope that while you’re staying with us you fully embrace a break from the routine.”

Closest airport: Denver (DIA).

9. Madeline Hotel in Telluride, Colorado

The Madeline hotel and residences in Telluride Colorado is the perfect location if you’re looking for close access to the slopes or the San Juans.

“Avid adventurers and ardent fans of the great outdoors call Telluride their spiritual home, nestled at the end of a lush box canyon, where red rocks rise from the canyon floor, and the snowy peaks of the San Juan Mountains loom majestically ahead. You’ll feel right at home with our relaxed mountain lifestyle—and with the Madeline family.”
