The couple featured in this shoot isn’t just any couple—they’re one of my past wedding clients! I had the honor of photographing their wedding a few years ago, but like most wedding days, our time for couples portraits was limited. We had just 30 minutes to sneak away and capture their love amidst the whirlwind of the day.

That’s why this shoot was so special. Instead of rushing, we had six full hours together—from sunrise at 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM—to truly embrace the landscape, the adventure, and the intimate moments that make wedding days in Colorado so incredible.

We started the day before the world woke up, watching the sunrise cast golden light over the San Juan mountain range. It was pure magic, and there’s something so intimate about sharing those first quiet moments of the day together. We’re waking up. The animals are waking up. We got to see tons of wildlife this early in the morning in the middle of nowhere.
8:30 AM | Coffee in Downtown Telluride
Telluride is one of the most photogenic mountain towns in Colorado, so of course, we had to stop for coffee at a cozy café. The old mining town charm, historic buildings, and mountain views made for the perfect romantic backdrop.
9:00 AM | Gondola Ride to an Epic Overlook
From downtown, we took the Telluride gondola up to an incredible scenic overlook. Picture 360-degree views of the town below, dramatic mountain peaks, and a fresh morning breeze—it was breathtaking. Plus, the gondola is dog friendly.
11:00 AM | Off-Roading to Bridal Veil Falls
After soaking in the views, we hopped in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle and made our way up the rugged road to Bridal Veil Falls—Colorado’s tallest free-falling waterfall at 365 feet! The drive itself was an adventure, winding through towering cliffs and alpine scenery.
