Beaumont Hotel in Ouray Colorado Wedding

An intimate wedding at the Beaumont Hotel in Ouray, Colorado. An intimate ceremony up Corkscrew Pass & celebrating with friends at the Beaumont Hotel.

This summer I got to photograph such an incredible and intentional day of union for these two who came all the way from the Pacific Northwest for their intimate wedding with friends and family. They got ready separately at a hotel in downtown Ouray, took 4WD cars up to a nearby mountain pass, and said their vows in the quietest raindrops as their friends and family looked on.

After their intimate ceremony and some couples photos around the pass, they celebrate with family at the Beaumont Hotel in downtown Ouray Colorado. Know for it’s incredible descending staircase as well as it’s garden courtyard, the Beaumont is one of the most stunning places to hold a reception in Ouray, Colorado.

Check out more from these two and their incredible 1900’s inspired day below.

Grand Mesa Color Sunday Fall Wedding

A couple has an outdoor camp themed intimate wedding with their friends and family on the Grand Mesa during color Sunday weekend in Colorado during the fall.

I don’t know how it has taken me almost a full year to share this incredible camp themed wedding up on the Grand Mesa in the fall! These two rented out side by side ranger cabins where they stayed over night with friends and family. On the morning of their wedding, they got dressed in separate cabins, had their first look on an incredible wood bridge over a creek, had their friends and family in camp chairs during their ceremony, took a perfectly decorated canoe out (peep those ducks y’all), and ended the evening with a sunset dinner outside.

If that sounds amazing, just wait till you see the photos. I think what I loved most about this day, despite it being so up my alley being camp themed and outdoors, was that the day felt so real and genuine to these two. A wedding day that perfectly encapsulated what they value and live for, and I love it.

Leave No Trace is super important to me so this last photo was photoshopped from someone who had already carved B&R into the tree. The aspen tree arch during their ceremony is also sourced from their own private land. :)

Twee Wingerd Plaas Winery Wedding in Palisade

An intimate wedding at Twee Winegard Plaas, a winery and farm house in Clifton, Colorado.

These two reached out to me last year to photograph their intimate wedding at Twee Winegard Plaas in Clifton, Colorado. We met for the first time at sunrise when they were out in Grand Junction visiting from their home in Denver, alllll the way up in the Bookcliffs in the middle of nowhere. We watched the sun rise over the Bookcliffs together and took engagement photos running around among the cactus and yucca before they headed back home. Then in May, the best time of year to get married in Grand Junction, these two and their closest friends had a TWP Winery wedding with the most stunning backdrop to their big day.

TWP Winery is a wedding venue in Clifton, Colorado that has everything you could ever dream about for your wedding. The inside decor is amazing (South African inspired) and every single touch is so thoughtfully curated by the two owners. The landscape is gorgeous any time of year, and we got really lucky with seeing some baby ducklings (!!!). One of the things I always recommend people look for when choosing their wedding venue is the lighting, backdrop, and feel of a space and TWP Winery has put that at the forefront when creating this beautiful wedding venue in Grand Junction!

Intimate Winter Wedding at Hotel Imogene in Ouray

An intimate winter wedding at Hotel Imogene in Ouray, Colorado.

J & A originally wanted to get married in Marble, Colorado, but after some unforeseen life circumstances and A getting deployed to Africa, they decided sooner was better and tied the knot amongst their closest friends and family at an intimate wedding in Ouray, Colorado.

Wanting a day filled with laughter with each other and conversation with friends and family, they rented out the iconic Hotel Imogene to celebrate their intimate wedding weekend. The weekend was as low stress as possible and of course started with a dip in the local hot spring before their wedding day.

When planning a winter elopement in Colorado you want to be prepared for everything because anything can happen, and for J & A’s wedding day, a lot did happen. Five days before their wedding date the San Juan Mountains got so much snow that CDOT had to do avalanche mitigation on the highway, effectively shutting off our access to their planned ceremony location. They were SUCH troopers though and the day before their wedding date learned that the highway was planned to be reopened!

We started their wedding day with getting ready photos, J’s mom helping her into her dress and A writing his vows while family mingled about. They had an intimate first look at the beautifully photogenic Hotel Imogene before we all headed up the mountains to their ceremony site!

Another aspect of smaller weddings in the winter in Colorado is accessibility and they tackled that too! Knowing they had about 20 guests they wanted at their ceremony at 11,000 feet, they know after fresh snow that guests would either have to rent snowshoes or risk post-holing their way to the ceremony site in 2 feet of snow. To help the trek out to the location go smoothly, A and his family headed out the morning of their wedding day to pack down the area with their snow shoes and it worked!

After their beautiful ceremony where J’s brother officiated, we headed off on our own so they could share their personal vows to each other in a more intimate setting. We shared laughs about hot Cheetos, guessed the names of mountain peaks, and spent time wandering around the beautifully 30 degree day before heading back to Hotel Imogene to celebrate with their friends and family.
