Lookout Mountain in Golden with Dillon + Erica

A sunrise couple shoot with Dillon and Erica up on Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado!

You know those people you know who are just so in love that it almost feels like this tangible thing you can see in photographs?

A lot of people tell me they aren’t comfortable in front of the camera but the great thing about couple photo shoots is that you are there with your partner who is your support in every day life! Now you get to be each others support doing something that might you may not be super familiar with. The short of getting photos together is you get to run around the woods and roads and have these moments with your significant other where you are solely interacting with them. The long of it is that you now have a visual tangible representation of your love.

I love taking moments in time and being able to capture them for you to look back on from years to come. I want you to print these photos out, show them to your children. Put them in your scrapbooks, on your wedding invitations, on your coffee table. It’s so important to have visuals of your life together, even when just sitting at home.

These photos are from one of my first ever couple shoots a few years ago. I know Dillon and Erica because I used to work with Dillon behind the bar at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. We worked a many 10 hour shifts, tasting new cocktail creations, getting our butts handed to us during busy conventions, and just always having each others backs in an extremely stressful work environment. His partner Erica would often come in on slow nights from teaching to see Dillon. As someone who understands how hard it is to have a relationship with that job (long nights, working 3-midnight, opposite schedule of your partner), it is so encouraging to see how supportive they are of each other and how they simply make time for what is important to their relationship.

We ended up meeting up in Golden for a little early morning sunrise session. The sunrise was spectacular, they brought their puppy Deebo to run around with them. Be still my heart! Please if you have dogs and the trail we are on allows it, bring your pets!

Skateboarding Guanella Pass with Memory

Skateboarding portrait session up on Guanella Pass with Memory!

Skateboarding Guanella Pass

A little over a year ago, Memory and I found ourselves driving out to Guanella Pass in the middle of Janaury to get her some skateboarding shots! While the north entrance into Guanella Pass from Georgetown is usaully closed that late into winter, the south entrance up Guanella through Grant is typically open a little further (depending on the snowpack)!

The beginning of Guanella pass from the south is a lush wooded forest area where the road runs right next to the creek. Eventually you stop passing houses and trailheads and you start switchbacking up the national forest road into this huge mountain valley. It was the perfect spot for us to pull over and start shooting!

Guanella pass is usually incredibly busy in the summer. There are National Forest roads that seemingly jut off in every direction, the campsites overrun with trailers and RV’s. But in the dead of winter with strong winds and temperatures in the 30’s (don’t let Memorys’ shorts deceive you! It was F R E E Z I N G) we had the whole road all to ourselves. We just pulled over on the side of the road and, thankful for the strong sun at 8,000 feet, shot to our hearts content as Memory skateboarded around!

This board is no longer in production but you can purchase a similar one here from the same brand here! You can pick up a similar jacket here.

Monochromatic Photoshoot with Katha and Velvet Wolf Boutique

Exploring some big colorful walls in Denver for fashion portraits with Katha and Denvers’ own Velvet Wolf Boutique!

A few weeks ago I was in Denver and got the opportunity to shoot with Katha for Velvet Wolf Boutique! I’ve worked with Velvet Wolf a few times before and I always love the selection of fun clothing they have!

Katha and I had met once before (actually at Velvet Wolfs’ 2 year anniversary!) so we met up on location, at these big colorful walls outside of Denver. I’ve been wanting to do a monochromatic fashion shoot and this spot was the perfect place to do it! Katha is a really well established Denver model and I was stoked to finally be able to shoot with her! We also stumbled on these balloons that someone had left so we had a lot of fun playing around with those too.

Hocking Hills Engagement with Hannah + Eric

An engagement session among the lush greenery and roaring waterfalls of Ohio’s Hocking Hills State Park!

One of my favorite things about going home to Ohio is being able to meet up with old friends! While home in Ohio last fall, I shot some engagement photos for Eric and Hannah! I knew Eric from high school, and from seeing each other out occasionally at mutual friends house shows + bars around town. Eric and Hannah are recently engaged, so we met up at one our favorite places in all of Ohio, Hocking Hills State Park!

If you’re not familiar with Hocking Hills, its just this amazing cavernous lush land in south central Ohio. I can’t tell you how many times I came here as a kid, and how much Hocking Hills played a huge role in getting me to move to Colorado.

It was so wonderful being able to explore this place with two people who love and appreciate the beauty it offers! Hocking Hills plays a part in so many peoples lives, especially Hannah and Erics as they come here for their anniversary every year! Capturing their love among the greenery and waterfalls was truly a dream come true!

Denvers' Bad Bettie Project Sunflower Portrait Shoot

Photoshoot at a Sunflower Farm in Longmont, Colorado with Denvers very own metro-based non profit benefiting young women!

Bad Bettie Project is a non-profit that benefits young women based out of the Denver Metro area! If you haven’t heard me talk about Bad Bettie Project, you probably aren’t following me on instagram, because I talk about it All 👏 The 👏 Time👏.

My favorite thing about Bad Bettie Project is how it redefines friendship among women. I don’t know if its just because my childhood occurred in a different age but I had never been exposed to this world where women weren’t constantly competetive with each other, but Bad Bettie Project is this amazing space for women to come together and change the narrative that sooo many of us are taught as young women! I’ve truly never been more grateful for the impact a group could have, not only on my life, but in the lives of its members as well!

So Bad Bettie Project throws a lot of different events, right now they have a reoccurring BBP Fitness event where you can go to different workout classes with other members! Last fall they had a little ‘shoot out’ at a Sunflower field up in Longmont, Colorado. This farm has E V E R Y T H I N G you could ever want in a photoshoot! Besides having amazing sunflowers to walk amongst, they have all of these to die for props around the field, including the cutest like VW bus! On top of that, they let you pick sunflowers to take home with you, and they take donations for local organizations.

I had such a fun time wandering around this field, connecting with women I had never met before, all of us just there empowering each other and having a fun time! If you’re new to the Denver area, or if your’e just looking to make some more connections with womxn in the area, Bad Bettie Project is a great place to find those connections!

If you’re interested in becoming a member of the growing non-profit Bad Bettie Project, you can check them out here!
